COPIA’s 3-1/2 acre Edible Gardens, situated along the banks of the Napa River, are the living inspiration for our exploration of wine, food, art and culture. Serving as a dynamic and interactive hub of the COPIA experience, visitors are immediately struck by the gardens’ aesthetic beauty—the color and texture combinations, and the display of the food plants that sustain us.

Modeled after the exquisite 16th-century Jardins du Villandry of France, the gardens’ traditional grid pattern is filled with organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers that embody the rich and distinctive character of California’s Wine Country.

The Edible Gardens are cared for using organic and biodynamic methods, without synthetic chemicals, pesticides or herbicides. We continually experiment with different growing methods, and cultivate unusual varieties of plants. From this living laboratory, we harvest an abundant array of outstanding produce throughout the seasons for use in Julia’s Kitchen, as well as in our Demonstration Kitchen and educational programs.

No matter what size your garden, you, too, can grow plants that will enrich your health and lifestyle. We invite you to enjoy the Edible Gardens and hope you find inspiration for your own garden and life.
